Make your polyester tent perfectly waterproof and give the tent canvas extra protection against mould, green build-up and all other grime. Impregnate the canvas in these simple steps and with this recommended impregnating agent.
Why waterproofing your polyester tent is so important.
- Polyester tent canvas itself is not delicate.
- But the original coating itself is susceptible to fungus, algae and UV radiation.
- Impregnate the tent canvas at least once a year on the inside and outside.
- This way it stays perfectly watertight and extra protected!
Polyester tent and UV radiation
Your tent gets a lot of sunlight. UV radiation is not only harmful for our skin, but also for the coating of the tent. Give the coating extra protection. This is possible with a strong impregnating agent. Waterproofing a polyester tent does not only help against moisture, but also against UV radiation.
Not only polyester tent canvas.
With our specially developed impregnating agent you can not only waterproof polyester canvas.
Also the other polyester fabric that you have at home. Or on the boat, at the campsite. You have more polyester fabric than you probably know yourself. And that fabric also deserves protection. Not only against water, but especially against grime, mould and algae. Some examples of polyester fabric that you can impregnate:
- garden cushions.
- sunshade
- windshield
- party tent
- rucksack
- hammock
- bicycle bags
Is polyester tent waterproof?
You have purchased a new tent. And of course you assume that it is watertight. Naturally, in many cases this is the case.
- Yet a lot of tents are sold that are not waterproof at all.
- Often water leaks through the stitching because incorrect yarn has been used.
- You can solve this yourself by spraying the seams with a good impregnating agent.
- The cheaper party tents in particular cause problems. The polyester tent fabric is woven very openly. As a result it is fabric porous. You will not notice that immediately. Polyester is in itself repellent. So there is nothing is wrong with a few drops of rain. But if it really starts to rain, the tent will quickly allow moisture through. The result is a tent that leaks over the entire tent canvas.
TIP
Because polyester tents do not breathe, condensation can form on the inside of the tent at night. Do you see drops on the inside of the tent? Do not immediately think that the tent is leaking. It can be condensation.
Polyester tent leaks
Is the tent really leaking? Is water running through the stitching or the tent canvas?
- Wait until the tent canvas is thoroughly dry.
- Then you can impregnate the canvas.
- Impregnation is best done when the tent is up. Then there is tension on the tent fabric. Tiny holes are then slightly opened. By then spraying the tent canvas with a good impregnating agent, you can fill all those holes. The canvas can then be made even more watertight.
User instructions making the Polyester tent watertight with Sprayhood & Tent Protector
- Make sure that your awning is thoroughly clean.
- Spray Ultramar Sprayhood & Tent Protector generously and evenly on the dry tent canvas. Use a plant sprayer, brush or spray.
- Also spray on the inside! By impregnating the inside, fungus and weather stain have less of a chance of attaching to the tent canvas.
- Immediately remove the impregnating agent from windows, caravan etc. Use a wet cloth.
- Allow the tent to dry well. Repeat the treatment if necessary.
